How to download Youtube videos

I’ve recently had a request for help in how to download youtube videos.

There are a number of ways which you can download videos from youtube and other video sharing sites. Possibly the easiest is Downloader9 in which you can copy and paste the youtube page that the video is on. This will download a flash video file (known as .flv files) onto your computer. What you will need at that point is a video player to play the file. An example is VLC media player – which while we’re on the subject – seems to play pretty much any video file under the sun.

An alternative option is KeepVid which offers a few other choices about the type of video to download.

If you prefer something to install, try using a updated version of Realplayer. Once this is installed simply take the mouse and hover it over the video you want to download. If it can be downloaded the option to download will appear just ontop of the video in question. Nice. Easy, and it also gives you something to play the youtube video with.
