Do you pray for the dead?

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you may have noticed a decline in posts over the last couple of days. Well the return of Summer, and the Sacred Fish Project Website aside, yesterday we found ourselves at a funeral in Coventry.

Towards the end of the section at the Crematorium, the minister walked over to the coffin, seemed to put his hands over the coffin – and it looked like he was either blessing / praying for the deceased.

We couldn’t help but wonder (and seriously I’m sorry if I seem insensitive), but why did he do this? Isnt she dead? Wouldn’t it been better to have prayed for her family?
