Religious ‘Marriages’ For Gay Couples

Same-sex ceremonies would appear almost identical to heterosexual weddings under the changes.

Equalities minister Lynne Featherstone has disclosed that the coalition Government is committed to talks on “what the next stage should be for civil partnerships”.

“This will include consideration of whether civil partnerships should be allowed to include religious readings, music and symbols,” she said in a Commons written answer.

I suppose that the thing that makes me wonder the most, is how would this work? What would a “Christian” wedding service look like? I presume that there would be no mention of husbands and wives?  Would portions of Bible teaching have to be ignored?

Look, if my Gay friends want to make a life time commitment to each other, then thats great, but would a Christian service be the best place for that? I just don’t know how that would work.

The flip side of this, is the timing of it all. It’s London Pride Day. Is this the Con-Dem governments attempt to win over the “pink vote”?
